This is the Audubon Summer Tanager edition, made with the National Audubon Society. The housing fades from bright red into deep crimson, after the red feathers of the male summer tanager. It comes with the matching Nocs x Audubon woven strap, printed with tanagers, bees and berries.
8x42 is the size most birders reach for. Eight power magnification stays steady in your hands, and the 42mm front lenses pull in a lot of light. The field of view is 429 feet at 1,000 yards, so you can find a bird in the trees instead of hunting around for it.
They are fully waterproof, rated IPX7, which means they survive being under a meter of water for half an hour. The barrels are sealed and filled with nitrogen so they will not fog up when the temperature swings. Twist up eyecups adjust for glasses or no glasses. Close focus is under 7 feet, close enough for a butterfly on the next shrub.
